Mining environments are among the most challenging workplaces imaginable, characterized by high levels of vibration, dust, moisture, and extreme temperature fluctuations. Inside these conditions, vehicle-mounted systems must do more than compute. They need to stay connected, remain visible in all lighting, and withstand constant mechanical stress while operating reliably from fluctuating vehicle power sources. Keeping these essential needs in focus, NEXCOM introduces the VMC 2030, the latest evolution of its 8-inch vehicle mount computer series. It’s built to deliver rugged reliability, clear visibility, and adaptable power performance for the demanding world of mining.

The VMC 2030 is engineered from the ground up for survival in tough conditions. Its 3 mm thick PCAP touchscreen is reinforced to IK08 impact resistance, and the complete IP65-rated enclosure shields it from dust, water, and grime. Bumper guard protection adds an extra layer of durability, while MIL-STD-810H compliance ensures resilience against heavy vibration and shock common in mining trucks and excavators. Whether operating in open pits or underground tunnels, the VMC 2030 keeps performing when the going gets rough.
Lighting in mining sites can shift from dimly-lit tunnels to bright sunlight in an instant — so clear visibility is critical. The VMC 2030’s 1,000-nit sunlight-readable LCD with anti-glare coating provides sharp, consistent clarity across all environments, while a wide 170° viewing angle makes it easy for operators to monitor data at a glance. The glove-friendly capacitive touchscreen ensures responsive operation even when users are wearing heavy protective gear. Large, illuminated buttons make adjustments easy in low-light conditions, and an HDMI® output enables dual-display setup, pairing seamlessly with an external monitor such as NEXCOM’s VMD 3111 for improved visibility and information sharing.
Mining vehicles rely on a complex web of sensors, cameras, and communication links. The VMC 2030 is built to keep them all in sync. With a wide DC 9V to 60V power input, it remains stable despite voltage fluctuations common in industrial power systems. Its interface includes USB and RS-232 ports for peripheral connections, an isolated CAN FD interface for dependable communication with vehicle control systems, and optional CVBS camera inputs supporting up to four analog cameras via an optional add-on capture card. These features give operators comprehensive situational awareness — ideal for vehicles like mining forklifts or haul trucks where visibility and precision are essential.
