Expand Beyond Limits: Unlocking New Possibilities with DockInfinity

As AI, machine vision, and industrial automation continue to evolve, edge computing requirements rarely stay the same. A system that meets today’s needs may require additional storage, graphics acceleration, networking, or specialized I/O tomorrow. Yet replacing an entire computer every time requirements change is costly, disruptive, and wasteful.

Expand Beyond Limits: Unlocking New Possibilities with DockInfinity

To help businesses adapt without starting from scratch, NEXCOM developed DockInfinity, an innovative expansion platform for Duro Edge computers. By transforming a compact box PC into a fully configurable industrial platform, DockInfinity enables users to add GPUs, network cards, USB expansion cards, capture cards, or additional storage easily. The result is a flexible, scalable, and environmentally conscious approach to extending system capabilities while protecting existing investments.

A smarter way to expand edge computing systems

DockInfinity is designed for users who need to expand the capabilities of their Duro Edge computer without replacing the original system. The modular expansion kit attaches directly to select Duro Edge computers through their side aluminum panels, creating a configurable platform that can accommodate graphics cards, networking cards, capture cards, storage modules, and other PCIe-based expansions.

Select models feature integrated fans and ventilation openings to actively dissipate heat generated by high-performance graphics cards and other expansion hardware. Beyond its flexibility, DockInfinity helps reduce upgrade costs by extending the lifespan of existing systems. By reusing the original Duro Edge chassis and side panel, installation remains simple while reducing material waste compared to traditional system replacements.

Tailored expansion for diverse applications

DockInfinity offers a wide range of expansion options to address evolving application requirements. NEXCOM currently provides three models: 2R8 (supporting one PCIe 4.0 x16 or two PCIe 4.0 x8 expansion cards), R16F (one PCIe 4.0 x16 with fan and ventilation holes), and 2S (dual SSD kit). Its design is backwards compatible, flexible enough to accommodate PCIe x4 and x1.

Selecting the right DockInfinity model depends on the intended workload and expansion requirements: x16 graphics cards for AI inference and accelerated computing, x8 for RAID, x4 for capture and network cards, and x1 for Wi-Fi, sound, and USB expansion.

Designed for demanding manufacturing environments such as Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), the NDiS B562 pairs naturally with DockInfinity expansion modules. Its powerful Intel® Core™ platform can support intensive AI and machine vision workloads, while DockInfinity-R16F adds the PCIe 4.0 x16 connectivity and thermal design needed to accommodate high-performance graphics cards.

As an entry-level platform for IoT gateways and light edge computing workloads, the NDiS B340 pairs well with the DockInfinity-E4X1. Its versatile PCIe expansion capabilities enable additional network, capture, PoE, and I/O cards to support applications such as autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), smart manufacturing equipment, warehouse automation systems, and logistics operations.

Building a more sustainable future for edge computing

As AI technologies continue to advance, system requirements will inevitably evolve alongside them. DockInfinity provides a practical path forward by allowing users to expand computing capabilities without replacing proven hardware platforms. From supporting next-generation AI accelerators and networking technologies to accommodating additional storage and specialized I/O, DockInfinity helps businesses adapt to changing requirements while maximizing the value of existing investments.

Looking ahead, NEXCOM plans to continue expanding the DockInfinity ecosystem with new options that enhance flexibility, performance, and sustainability. By extending product lifecycles and reducing unnecessary hardware replacement, DockInfinity represents NEXCOM’s commitment to delivering smarter and more environmentally responsible edge computing solutions.
