The new NEXCOM rROK 5520 Series is purpose-built for these challenges. Featuring a true 19-inch 2U fanless rackmount design with front-access, single-sided I/O, it simplifies maintenance, improves cable management, and eliminates fan-related failures often caused by vibration and dust. Powered by Intel® Core™ Ultra Processors (Series 2) and optional NVIDIA® RTX™ Ada MXM GPUs, the platform delivers the performance, connectivity, and reliability required for next-generation railway applications.

 

Purpose-Built for Railway Applications

The rROK 5520 Series includes two application-focused models designed for modern rolling stock deployments.

rROK 5520-WI: High-Bandwidth Wireless Gateway

Designed for onboard communications and passenger connectivity, the rROK 5520-WI supports up to four LTE/5G modules, three WLAN modules, and 16 SIM slots. Its multi-modem architecture enables bandwidth aggregation, carrier redundancy, and seamless connectivity across varying network conditions.

Ideal applications include:

  • Passenger Internet and onboard Wi-Fi
  • Train-to-ground communications
  • Backbone network connectivity

 

By providing higher bandwidth, lower latency, and support for more concurrent users, the rROK 5520-WI helps enhance both passenger experience and operational efficiency.

rROK 5520-WIC7S: Mobile AI NVR Platform

The rROK 5520-WIC7S is optimized for AI-powered video surveillance and security applications. Equipped with seven M12 PoE ports, support for up to eight removable SSDs, and optional NVIDIA® RTX™ Ada MXM GPU acceleration, it delivers the computing and storage resources required for advanced video analytics.

Typical applications include video surveillance, rear-view monitoring, coupling monitoring, safety monitoring, and intelligent incident analysis.

High-Speed Infotainment and Edge Data Center Platform

Beyond connectivity and surveillance, the rROK 5520 Series can also serve as an onboard infotainment server and edge data center.

With support for up to eight removable SSDs, optional dual-port 10GbE SFP+ expansion, and ultra-fast NVMe storage, the platform enables high-speed backbone networking, centralized media distribution, and onboard data processing.

Optimized Storage Architecture for AI

AI applications generate massive amounts of data that require both high-speed processing and reliable long-term storage.

The rROK 5520 Series combines NVMe SSD and multiple SATA SSDs to create an optimized storage architecture. Frequently accessed hot data can be processed directly on NVMe storage for low-latency AI inference and machine vision workloads. Processed or archived cold data can then be stored on high-capacity SSD arrays.

Support for RAID 0/1/5/10 further enhances performance, data protection, and system availability, making the platform ideal for mission-critical railway deployments.

With support for NVIDIA® RTX™ Ada MXM GPUs, the rROK 5520 Series enables advanced AI applications such as rail track condition monitoring, pantograph inspection, obstacle detection, sign recognition, and rail network quality analysis.
