Every day, digital transformation and the rapid development of AI continue to reshape how we live and interact with technology. Daily experiences are becoming quicker, more efficient, and more convenient. Post-COVID, contactless interaction has become especially important — particularly when it comes to payment. Today, users increasingly rely on self-service and mobile payment options to reduce human contact.

As a result, self-service kiosks have experienced tremendous growth since the pandemic and are projected to continue expanding over the next five years. With this trend in mind, NEXCOM continues to advance its fanless edge computing portfolio. The latest additions, the cost-efficient yet high-performing Neu-XE102 and Neu-XE104, are purpose-built to meet the growing demands of applications such as smart healthcare.
Self-service payment kiosks in smart healthcare environments require computer systems that can execute a series of simple tasks quickly while maintaining low power consumption. To meet these requirements, the new and improved Neu-XE edge computing systems offer broad cross-platform support. Support spans multiple Intel® platforms, from the latest cost-effective Twin Lake N150 (Neu-XE104-N150) and Core™ 3 N355 processors, to proven Alder Lake N50, N97 (Neu-XE102-N50/Neu-XE102-N97), and Alder Lake-N N305 options.
This flexibility delivers lower system cost and reduced power consumption, ranging from just 6W to 15W, while still providing reliable performance for fast, repetitive workloads commonly found in self-service and payment applications.
Industrial IoT machines, such as self-service payment kiosks, depend on extensive I/O connectivity to support the many peripheral devices that keep operations running smoothly. The Neu-XE102 and Neu-XE104 deliver all the connectivity needed — and more.
In a smart healthcare payment scenario, the systems feature two 2.5GbE LAN ports for secure credit card payment processing, three USB 3.2 ports and one USB 2.0 for barcode scanners and cameras, and two HDMI® 1.4 outputs to drive touchscreens and auxiliary displays at 4K@30Hz. While the edge computing systems come standard with four COM ports for legacy devices such as coin acceptors, banknote machines, and card readers, they can be easily expanded to support up to 14 COM ports for maximum deployment flexibility.
Designed to fit seamlessly into smart payment machines, the Neu-XE102 and Neu-XE104 feature a compact, lightweight form factor that weighs less than 2 kg. Despite their small footprint, the systems offer impressive scalability. Configurations supporting up to 14 COM ports and two additional 2.5” SSD trays (14C2S model) allow system integrators to scale storage and legacy connectivity as requirements evolve, without compromising space or weight constraints.
