Driver and occupant monitoring systems (DMS/OMS) have long been deployed to safeguard vehicles and passengers alike. With new regulations — particularly in the EU —and rapid advances in AI, these systems will soon become standard across commercial fleets. For buses, which often endure long routes, heavy daily use, and extended driver shifts, the stakes are especially high. Driver fatigue and distraction not only increase the risk of accidents but can also lead to costly damage to fleet assets and, more critically, injuries to passengers.
Recognizing the need to protect both people and vehicles, NEXCOM has reinforced its edge AI telematics portfolio with the ATC 3561 series, a compact yet powerful solution designed to help operators minimize risks, extend vehicle lifespan, and elevate passenger safety.
The ATC 3561 comes with your choice of NVIDIA® Jetson Orin Nano™ (ATC 3561-NA4C) or Jetson Orin™ NX
(ATC 3561-NX4CF), depending on your AI inference requirements. Both models feature Super Mode for additional computing power, while retaining a compact, palm-sized footprint. Despite its reduced dimensions, the ATC 3561 integrates the full range of essential I/Os — GbE PoE+, USB, CAN bus, RS-232, and more — alongside GNSS modules and expansion slots. Built with NEXCOM’s proven rugged design, it ensures durability without compromise.
Modern buses require intelligent, AI-powered DMS/OMS that not only enhance operational performance but also safeguard drivers, passengers, and the vehicles themselves. By reducing the likelihood of collisions, these systems keep riders safe and comfortable while lowering the risk of costly repairs and downtime.
Key benefits include:
To deliver these benefits, operators require advanced GPUs capable of AI/ML workloads, high-speed connectivity to cameras and sensors, and robust storage to capture and process massive amounts of data.
Running multiple AI inference workloads simultaneously requires superior GPU performance. Powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Orin™ SOMs, the ATC 3561 delivers exactly that. The ATC 3561-NA4C leverages Jetson Orin Nano™ for power-sensitive deployments at up to 67 TOPS, while the ATC 3561-NX4CF utilizes Jetson Orin™ NX for more demanding workloads, reaching up to 157 TOPS (16 GB, in Super Mode). NEXCOM’s fanless thermal design ensures stable operation, and the ATC 3561-NX4CF offers a fan kit to protect against system overheating.
Effective DMS/OMS rely on broad connectivity. The ATC 3561 features four GbE PoE ports for IP cameras and LiDAR sensors, along with a comprehensive set of I/Os that includes USB 3.2, isolated CAN bus, RS-232, DI/DO, OTG, and HDMI®. It integrates a u-blox NEO-M9N GNSS module and PCIe 3.0/4.0 x4 NVMe SSD, and offers dual M.2 slots for expansion modules such as 5G NR and Wi-Fi 5/6. With CPS integration, operators can retrain AI models on the fly, enhancing accuracy in real-world deployments.
Despite its smaller form factor, the ATC 3561 is engineered to thrive in harsh bus environments. It operates from -25°C to 60°C, complies with MIL-STD-810H for shock and vibration resistance, and is certified to CE/FCC Class A, UKCA, and E-mark standards.
