Vehicle Mount Computer Harvests Data to Increase Field Yields

NEXCOM vehicle mount computer VMC 4011-K is aimed at providing field data for fieldworkers and site managers to increasing productivity. Targeted at mobile data terminals on heavy machines, the VMC 4011-K is packed with data gathering, processing, display, and transfer capabilities. The VMC 4011-K can keep field operations and heavy machines under tight control and close watch for industries including agriculture and forestry, mining, construction, and ports and harbors.
 

In field operations, geo-information and visual assistance are crucial to operational efficiency. To support graphics-intensive geographic information system (GIS) software, the VMC 4011-K is built with Intel^® Atom™ D2550 processor, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a 12.1-inch touchscreen. The vehicle mount computer can show geospatial data, terrain models, graph grids, and video images. Information required for farm planning, field mapping, container handling, and beyond is at operator’s fingertips through function key settings.

The VMC 4011-K can also increase worksite safety and security with support for precise positioning. With a built-in GPS, the vehicle mount computer can provide different levels of position accuracy required of mobile data terminals, enabling functions such as geo-fencing, self-navigation, and asset tracking which are imperative for managing the volatility of onsite traffic and locating misplaced heavy machines.

Moreover, the VMC 4011-K is equipped with a rich set of interfaces to communicate with heavy machines. Through CAN bus and serial communication as well as digital and analog signals, the VMC 4011-K can harvest operating data and upload it over 3G/Wi-Fi networks, giving fieldworkers more control over heavy machines and site mangers operation status. The optional OBD II interface is also available for preventive diagnosis and maintenance of heavy machines to maximize machine uptime.

To withstand the rigorous of field operating environments, the VMC 4011-K has passed MIL-STD-810G vibration testing to ensure sturdy and reliable data exchange and can mitigate potential conducted interferences by following SEA J1113, SAE J1455, and ISO 7637-2 standards. For outdoor use, the VMC 4011-K is encased in a robust aluminum chassis with IP65 rating to build up water and dust resistance and enhances sunlight readability with high display brightness. An extended operating temperature range of -30°C to 60°C is also supported by the VMC 4011-K.
